I stumbled upon a great tool to work your designs over with clients. The program has been out for awhile but I haven’t really gotten to using it until recently. That piece of software is called Skitch.

As a web designer sometimes I don’t want to boot up adobe photoshop, point out items on a graphic and then re-save it and send it off. Skitch is not a very intensive program so it boots up in a second, you edit what your crap then drag and drop it directly from the program into something like your email, desktop or whatever. I feel this is a great tool to communicate certain items with your clients quick and easily. All the is for low low price of FREE! (click to signup)

WAIT there’s more! (as those sales types say) and I don’t feel like I can explain it as well as the good people over at Skitch can so if your interested check out the 3min video on the website. (look at the very bottom of the page)

Downfall: No Windows version. Only Mac (if you click here you will go straight to the sign up page)

jetpacks and rollerskates on Revision3's Hak5I have admired what the guys do over at Hak5 for a while now. So, i decided to approach Darren Kitchen, one of the hosts of the show (Shannon Morse co-hosts along side with Darren) in the Revision3 live chat.

Darren first set me on the task to drawn the entire cast of Hak5 along with some show mascots: WIFI Pineapple and Network Monkey (my illustrations were used for the intro of Season 6). My second task was to create both a background and postcard for promotional uses. Finally Darren approached me not knowing what he was going to do for the Season 7 graphics. So, we scraped together a concept and I did the vector graphics for him you can see them on the upcoming episodes of Hak5.

business card resource for designers. cheap and great quality.

moo cards logomoo cards: business card resource for designers.I apologize for the wicked blurry photo but I was just so excited because today I received my new business card from moo cards.  I was a bit skeptical at first because of how low the price (19.99 for 100 mini cards + shipping and the price only goes down when you order more) was, I usually associate low prices with low quality but moo really pulls through. One of the great features moo has to offer is that you can literally customize all 100 (however many cards you order) individually if you would like. This services would be great for something like music download cards or product promo numbers. Just when you think it can’t get any better…..it does! Inside my box came a card for an additional %15 off my next order!

Downfall: So, it was hard to find anything wrong with moo cards and it seems like the only issue was moo’s popularity. So many clients seems to make orders come in a bit slow. It took me approximately 3 weeks to receive my order. With a traditional printing job I would see turn around days later that being said I can’t order 100 cards either (it’s an average of 500 card minimum for the competition).

hoped this helped you!
